I will provide all your care in pregnancy (or alongside your NHS specialists) until your baby arrives. I will support you during your hospital appointments and act as an advocate if you wish (and Covid permits). All antenatal appointments are unhurried, in the comfort of your home and at times that suit you and your family. I will usually see you monthly until 28 weeks, fortnightly until 36 weeks and weekly until your baby is born. This schedule and every other aspect of your care is flexible and can be changed depending on your wishes and needs. I will be on the other end of the phone to answer any questions
that may come up and support you and your family along this journey in any way that I can.
I will be on-call for you 24/7 from 37 weeks. I work in collaboration with the local NHS Trust and will look after you whether you choose to give birth at home or at the Conquest hospital. If you choose to transfer to the hospital from home, I will remain with you every step of the way. I specialise in physiological birth and in maximising your chances of an uncomplicated birth, even when challenges arise. Continuity of care by a midwife you know and trust is the gold standard level of care and greatly reduces your chances of birth intervention. If you choose to have your baby via Caesarean section, I will support you through the process and remain by your side in theatre and for the first few hours of recovery post-surgery.
Life with a new baby is as wonderful as it is vulnerable, filled with incredible highs and some more challenging moments. You'll be recovering physically whilst processing and integrating your birth experience and your new role as a parent emotionally and mentally. I will be there to support you through this transition from day one. After you’ve had your baby, we will meet daily for the first week. I will support you with your recovery, as well as with feeding your baby and newborn care. As you feel more confident and comfortable we’ll meet less frequently, depending on your needs, until you feel ready for discharge, usually around the time your baby is 8 weeks old. All aspects of your care will be flexible and relevant to your family’s needs and wishes.
